Artifacts Reflection

This diagram is from the first lesson I planned and taught with two other fellow classmates. It was based on the grade 5 science curriculum. In this lesson, we taught about the main path the food follows in the digestive system. We had a paper diagram to label the parts before going on to the big diagram shown above, and we also showed a youtube video. This lesson was also cross-curricular to art. In this lesson, we also highlighted the importance of recycling and what we as a class can create with those materials.

This creation was made during a class that highlighted how you could bring art, and outdoor together in a meaningful way. The criteria was to create a picture of a place that meant a lot to yourself. I recreated a picture I took of charlie lake during sunset. The reason I chose charlie lake as my special place was it can be so beautiful when it’s calm and the sun is setting across it. It is also special because it holds so many memories with my partner, family, and friends. I learned how to surf, sky, and wakeboard there. Every year I also fish, paddle-board, and kayak at the lake. as well, during the frozen winter months I skate, fish, and ski-doo across it.

During the first semester in the foundation of education, we had “support groups.” These groups were created by the professors and they made the groups up of like-minded people. We had to come up with a group name so, we came up with the acronym S.P.A.C.E. This stood for safe, patient, acceptance, creative, and equal. we choose those because they fit with what we believed in and what we hoped our future class has these components.

I hold these cards dear to my heart. I was placed in a grade one class for my second practicum. They created these cards to welcome me to the school and classroom, It was great to read the very cute messages they left me. I knew I wanted to teach grade 1, but being in that class solidified it for me that grade one is of my top choices.

This painted rock was created during a lesson taught by fellow classmates. We had the freedom to draw whatever we wanted. I choose to paint on my very common road trip I take very often. FSJ is where I was born and raised. All my important people are there, it is also where I want to teach. PG is on my rock because it has been my other home for about 5 years now well I go to school. Soon I will no longer have to travel the road between both places too often after I complete my degree in Bachelors of Education.

I took this photo during my first teaching practicum. It was the first time I participated in a drumming circle. It was so fun and so powerful. I learned 4-5 songs that morning. It was great to see all the kids waiting for school to start joining in on this circle. As the drumming circle continued more kids and parents started to come around to listen to the songs. It was great to see the joy in everyone’s faces as they listened to the songs or sang along.
